Looking After 3D Printed Display Models: A Practical Care Guide

Triceratops Skeleton from veilboundrealms.com made in Huntingdon Cambs

Detailed horns, tails and skeletal features make a 3D printed display interesting, but they also deserve careful handling. A stable location and a gentle routine are more useful than frequent rearranging or aggressive cleaning.

Handle detailed display models carefully and check the individual listing for material and use information.

Check the material and intended use

The Veilbound Realms product safety information describes PLA-based materials unless an individual product listing says otherwise. Check your item’s listing first: advice for one model may not cover a lamp, an articulated dragon or a product with separate accessories.

The safety page also states that the models should not be chewed, ingested or used in food-related applications. They are decorative or educational figurines rather than toys, and are not suitable for children under 14.

Choose a stable display location

Keep a piece away from shelf edges and places where it may be knocked while books or other objects are moved. Choose a sheltered indoor display area and avoid placing it beside a heat source. If you are unsure about a particular environment or material, ask before using it there.

Move the model carefully

Support the main body when moving a piece rather than lifting it by a thin horn, limb or tail. Clear the destination before carrying it. For the Crystal Dragon, support the connected body rather than pulling individual sections into position.

A hanging dragon arrangement has additional requirements. Read the Bookshelf Guardian guidance and check suitable shelf and wall support before installation.

Start gently when cleaning

For light dust, begin with a soft, dry brush and avoid forcing it between delicate features. Do not assume solvents, abrasive cleaners, immersion or dishwasher cleaning are suitable. For a specific mark or spill, contact Veilbound Realms with the product name and a photograph before attempting a treatment.

Keep the product information handy

Save the listing link and any instructions supplied with your order. If you notice damage, stop moving or using the affected piece and ask about the next step.
